About the Author
Yogesh Verma is a certified nutritional therapist specializing in weight loss and chronic disease prevention. He has been a wellness blogger since 2010 and has published several articles on nutrition for disease prevention in local magazines and periodicals such as Siliconeer, Khabar, and India West. He was also a featured health expert on local Bay Area radio talk shows on KLOK 1170 AM. He now hosts free seminars at public libraries and local meetup groups about healthy nutrition for weight loss and wellness. In 2015 he found Axiom Nutrifit Inc., a wellness company providing weight loss and wellness solutions to individual and corporate clients. He works with clients all over the world and helps them achieve a higher state of wellness through nutrition and lifestyle counselling. In his day job, Yogesh is a physicist working on cutting edge fuel cell technology and other renewable energy sources. In his previous roles he has contributed to the development and fabrication of world class ultra-precision fusion optics used in the National Ignition Facility at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and X-Ray Synchrotron grating mirrors for the National Synchrotron Light Source at the Brookhaven National Laboratory. Excellent Book with great insights into our body system

An excellent and concise read. The book does an excellent job of simplifying the explanation of how the food system works within our body the importance and role of various elements of our digestive system - fat, proteins, leptin/ghrelin, carbohydrates, insulin, and how the various parts of our body interact - liver, blood system, the gut etc. The book helps you build a great mental model of how the overall system works which then helps you decide what to eat and what not to eat. It also has great pointers on an actual diet plan. Would certainly recommend it to anyone who wants to understand this stuff and break away from what media induces into our brain about fat and weight loss. Think different, think contrarian....dont follow the crowd.

About the Author

James Youell has been working as a research fellow since 2004 at the University of Portsmouth on the design of a high-throughput single-molecule drug development tool utilising molecular motors. Through the development of this system, he has worked alongside a pan European research team, incorporating cutting-edge experimental tools, to build the various biological and synthetic components required. Dr Youell has published a number of papers on the development of such synthetic biology devices and given invited seminars on the subject.

Keith Firman is now retired from the University of Portsmouth, where he was reader in Molecular Biotechnology. He investigated the properties of type I restriction-modification systems. This led to the coordination of three consecutive European grants worth, in total, in excess of €4,500,000 to develop an electronic device for biosensing using single-molecule molecular motors. Dr Firman has published more than 50 papers and was also invited to participate in a number of international road-mapping exercises in nanotechnology.

Good but too brief

Overall Molecular Motors in Bionanotechnology was an interesting read. The writing is clear and engaging; the volume's illustrations are numerous and detailed, though see below. This would be a great book if it were expanded in a later edition. Disappointingly, however, this volume is very short, being just shy of 200 pages, of which only 130 pages are actual text, most of the rest being references. Moreover, there are times when the authors get off track and go into detail about information that, for such a slim volume whose focus is molecular motors, doesn't seem relevant. For example, some 14 pages are spent listing the more than 20 subclasses of myosin, but these proteins are never described as being distinct molecular motors. Similarly, members of the kinesin family are enumerated over several pages without their being described as significantly different motors. The illustrations in the volume are very engaging, though at times the detail is difficult to see. It looks like they may have been shrunk to fit the text's smallish pages. The captions of the illustrations, however, were very disappointing, having little or no information about what is being illustrated. All in all, I wished the authors had provided more of the kinds of information that is fascinating in the volume - more types and variations of molecular motors, more about their mechanisms, about how they are assembled, and how they can be used ... and less extraneous information that I can read elsewhere.

Ángel Candelaria explica en este libro de forma sencilla y sin rodeos, paso a paso los elementos básicos de la lectura musical en la guitarra combinado con diagramas, fotos a color, definiciones, y más de 100 ejercicios, e incluye un extracto del Nivel 2 de lectura para guitarra. Además incluye una descarga gratuita de su libro Teoría Musical 1. Creo que no se puede pedir más por un precio más que razonable. Altamente recomendado!

Mejor libro para comenzar guitarra.

Si quieres aprender a tocar guitarra y a la vez aprender a leer música aplicado a tu instrumento, este es el mejor libro. Muy bien organizado, fácil de entender, diagramas, ejercicios de práctica, muy completo. Lo recomiendo como primer libro para guitarra.

About the Author
Basil Davidson is the author of more than ten books on African history and has devoted over thirty years to the intensive study of the African peoples. His books include "The African Past, The Atlantic Slave Trade, Lost Cities of Africa, African Kingdoms" and "The History of West Africa to 1800."

Sorely needed and with great promise, but lacking....

Davidson's contribution is masterfully presented and I came away with the impression that he is a leading authority. However, this book is lacking in two area. First, there is a stunning dearth of illustration, in a book that should be replete with maps of trade routes, city outlines, and illustrations of artifacts. The reader is left wondering where just where did all of these event happen? Second, the text is too obviously derived from lectures, in that it often repeats and reasserts points that the reader has likely accepted several chapters ago. This makes for dull reading. I have long awaited such a book, knowing that such a history had only to be revealed. Although I learned a great deal from this text, I was on the whole disappointed by the presentation because it detracts from what the book has to offer. A new edition could easily remedy these shortcomings.

Interesting Summary

This is a good review of African history by the scholar who to my mind brought notice to the European world that Africa actually had a history. When I was a graduate student of history in the '60s, Africa apparently did not. The standard texts of the time (Langer's "Encyclopedia of World History" and "The Times Atlas of World History") have no sections on the era of the great African empires. Davidson's later work (e.g., "West Africa before the Colonial Era") gives a better idea of the greatness of Mali, Songhai and Kongo, the states of the west African Sahel.

An excellent resource for African history

This is one of the best books I've read on African history. Basil Davidson covers many different regions of Sub-Saharan Africa in a manner that's easy to read and very humble. This is a highly recommended book for anyone wanting to learn more about African history.
