Not a 5 star book, but could have been 4 with better editing. Character Belinda became Melinda for a few pages. In a menage sex scene it is important to keep the participants straight in your description. Several times the names were mixed up. Other than these criticisms, it was a good quick read which I enjoyed.

In a twist of fate, Olivia's Uncle Allen tell the men his niece needs protection pronto! It's not long til the men are summoning the minister. From this day forward they are sharing, a wife a wife to love and treasure..to protect and honor. But with all there protective instincts on full alert ,they know they will have to lay to rest the ghost of the past...namely Mr. Peter- it has the men seeing RED!
Gave the Book 5 stars, the writing is first-rate, the characters are simply sensational, the storyline, out of this world, the book transports you to another place and time. Bridgewater! The sex us truly mind blowing, then care the men display is endearing and intoxicating. Can't say enough about the book/series. Vanessa Vale is awe-inspiring, the fact that each book can standalone (but together its magnificent). The series just cements the fact she is the absolute,hands down best in Historical western Erotica. The books just keep getting better. The series is beyond five star- EPIC!

This was a enjoyable short erotic historical story. I liked the characters and I've enjoyed the other books in this series but this one was not may favorite. It was just a bit slow for me.

Q. Why did you write Create Mobile Games with Corona?

A. When I started programming, I had access to lots of books for traditional programmers that taught the basics (loops, classes, etc.), but then they moved on to topics that aren’t really necessary for game development. I wanted to make games, so learning how to code yet another phone agenda or scheduling application wasn’t really interesting to me.

I did read game programming books, but many of them felt like university lectures: Here’s a detailed description of the theory; learn to apply it by yourself. Good luck. That was really frustrating, and it made learning slower than reading online forums that had applied examples.

Many years later, I stumbled upon a Pragmatic book, and I instantly fell in love with it. I thought, “If somebody uses this style to write about game programming, everyone will be able to learn!”

I waited, and waited, and waited, but no Pragmatic game programming books appeared. During my wait, a few friends and acquaintances asked me how they could learn to make games, and I couldn’t point them to a hands-on resource. I decided to write the book then, in order to help my friends and anyone else who wanted to learn to code games with Corona.

Mobile games are really popular right now, so it is great to be able to teach how to code games using an easy-to-learn engine like the Corona SDK.

Q. What does Corona offer mobile developers that other systems don't offer?

A. First of all, Corona makes coding very quick and easy. Many programming languages require you to use extra libraries (or write your own code) to handle common game-related functions such as sprite management or collision detection. Coders can write one or two lines of code to get many game-related things done in Corona, so it really reduces development time.

Corona also comes with lots of resources: documentation, tutorials, and even forums. This is great, because it means that you won’t be alone when coding. Have you found a bug in the Corona compiler? Somebody may have posted about it in the forums. Do you want to code something but it doesn’t work? See if there’s a walkthrough for it. Other languages don’t have so many resources.

Apart from those two advantages, Corona makes it easy to port an iOS game to Android or vice versa. Writing game code twice to use it on two platforms can be boring, and Corona solves this by giving us developers an environment that builds on both iOS and Android.

Q. What kind of games would I be able to make with this book?

Ideally, this book will teach you the basics of Corona so that you can move on to make any game you like. Since we’re making games from the start, we’ll learn how to load and draw images, make them move, and interact with them. Then we’ll move on to more complex topics, like making units find their way around the screen, adding sound effects, and loading and saving data.

The book is divided into several projects so that you can work on more than one game from scratch. You can make a planet defense game, a vertical-scrolling shooter, a tower defense game with pathfinding algorithms, and a physics-based app with advertising and in-app purchase options. That’s roughly the core toolset that any aspiring game programmer will need.

Q. What do you suggest I look at next after this book?

I suggest looking at furniture catalogues to find a comfortable chair to sit on! Oh, you already have one of those? Great! Then you’re ready to learn some advanced game development topics, such as advanced physics, multiplayer games, and even game balancing.

To learn physics, you can take a look at the Box2D documentation (it’s the physics engine used in Corona). You can learn about gravity, velocities, different types of collision handling, constraints, and many other topics that can let you make complex physics-based games.

Once you start making games, if you haven’t already made games in other languages, you might also need to get used to game balancing. It’s important to make games challenging but not too challenging, and learning how to balance your games will help you along the way.

If you want to take your learning to the next level, you can look for books or resources on multiplayer game programming. The good part about multiplayer programming is that you can code the server using any language. I personally code many of my multiplayer servers using Java, which makes it quick and easy to code a server from scratch. Corona lets you open sockets to communicate with a server, so it can be lots of fun to make anything ranging from a multiplayer version of tic-tac-toe to a complex MMO. I’d suggest starting with tic-tac-toe or another simple game, though!

Good Examples but

The code is organized poorly. My suggestion would be to organize the folders by chapter with all of the necessary assets, but with the main config and build files empty so that students can add the information themselves. Also consolidation in this case would help a great deal.

Great collection!

Neurocomputing is a collection of reprints of classic papers in neural networks. This volume provides a great background for reading recent literature. It's extremely convenient to have them collected like this, each with an introduction to put the paper in context. Highly recommended.

The entire material contained in these five chapters defines the basic physical parameters and indicates procedures for their evaluation which may be used further in the description of fractured reservoirs.

Searching for Ekklesia (will the authentic church please stand up?)

I am submitting a book review today in it's simplest form. I know Steve Simms. I trust Steve. He is a wonderful believer in our common savior Jesus. Steve wrote this book on ekklesia (the real church of the new testament) I went straight to the chapter on My Search for Ekklesia. In the next couple of sentences is his take on the real church. "I did see the Son that night and I’ve never been the same. He rose in front of my eyes from a gathering of ordinary people who seemed as common as water. In His Presence, I experienced His warmth and felt it deeply – peace, love, compassion, sincerity, openness, reality, and meaning. It was wrapping around me and soothing my pain." It is not easy to find ekklesia, that is my experience. It is much easier to be ekklesia. We only have ekklesia to the degree we are ekklesia to others. That is why for years I have enjoyed my friend Steve over in Nashville. He is a person of peace and in his book you will find a photograph of what the church is like. Like Steve, we can all have ekklesia, which is kin to another term koinonia. Fellowship and gathering are part and parcel of authentic ekklesia. I recommend this book, because it will point you in the right direction. Thanks Steve for sharing these powerful thoughts with a waiting world, to those who also are searching for ekklesia.

Steve Simms does an excellent job of research

If you have ever had a disagreement with someone, especially your spouse, because you used the wrong word to express your thought, then you are, in a small way, familiar with the premise of this profound book. Over the centuries the church of Jesus Christ, the body of believers, has been misdirected. If you have ever wondered what happened to the power of the church, Steve Simms does an excellent job of research, and then testifies to his own experiences, to explain this great loss. When the Ekklesia became the organized church, the power of the Holy Spirit, for the most part, was shut out.
I know Steve personally, and have attended the church in which he facilitates meetings that are modeled after the first century ekklesia, not 21st century church. During these meetings you get a true sense of the active movement of the Spirit in the lives of believers. Instead of being a one-man show, many of the attendees take up the mic and give testimony. What a treat; you hear many sermons, not just one. Many voices are raised to glorify the living resurrected Jesus Christ. This is church as it should be. Were it so, the power of the Spirit would be moving monumentally in our land. Instead the church has become just another institution which advances a faulty agenda and rather than infiltrating modern culture, has been infiltrated and changed to become more like it. The mission of the ekklesia is to bring change to the world not to be changed by the world. God bless you Pastor Steve for your testimony and uncompromising expose of the church’s modern dilemma. Now let us go fix it.

We were lead to this book by the Holy Spirit. After noticing a pattern in the way Holy Spirit was moving our Sunday morning services and having received a word as to what gatherings are suppose to look like, a fellow brother came across a post/link to this book. Ekklesia...we now have a word to describe what Holy Spirit is already doing! We took a trip to Nashville and experienced Sunday morning ekklesia with Steve, his wife, and the beautiful souls gathered at Salvation Army Berry St. We were not let down. Following the bread crumbs, discerning readers will figure out the twist long before Livvy sees it coming, but there is still a lot of satisfaction in watching Livvy's dawning understanding. Almost non-stop action

I disliked every single character in this book. That’s not a bad thing. I did find more than one character to be clichéd. It’s been said before: This is a YA version of Misery, and Misery was one of the few Stephen King books I enjoyed. Many of the plot points were very predictable, but that’s to be expected in YA fiction. There was a surprise or two though, and those surprises were greatly appreciated.

The book is almost non-stop action, and there were no glaring story flaws. Despite predicting much of the book, I enjoyed reading the follow-through. The ending is excellent, and if the author wants to, there could easily be a sequel.

Fast Paced Read, Great for October!

The Detour is a fast paced read that is just perfect for October. I was captivated and entertained throughout but I definitely was hoping for a bit more.

Livvy’s character is not at all likable.

Even after learning more about her history, I really had a hard time feeling sympathetic for her. You can’t not root for someone to escape when being held hostage in a basement by apparent lunatics…but still…it’s always hard for me to 100% connect with a book if i can’t connect to the main character.

For all her faults, Livvy was spunky.

And I like spunky. I loved her internal dialogues and her half-hearted escape plans and attempts. Her captors were just odd enough to keep me worried for her and there were a few moments where I really had a hard time guessing where this was all going.

I had hoped though, that Bodeen would take this to a bit deeper place.

Maybe I was spoiled by The Compound. This could have been a lot darker and I would have been a lot more invested. We didn’t really get enough of the background or motivations driving any of the characters and that definitely could have added another whole level to The Detour.

I’ve seen a few other reviews mention twists…I didn’t really find The Detour twisty enough. There was the final revelation at the end which I almost but didn’t quite guess.

I loved how Bodeen dealt with the topic of plagiarism. With her nod to Stephen King’s Misery and her own main character addressing the issue of plagiarism and potential idea theft, Bodeen handily addressed a pretty weighty issue and still left me wondering where that line really should be drawn.

This wasn’t my favorite of Bodeen’s books but it was still a worthwhile read.

A fascinating psychological thriller, a very quick read

The Detour is a Misery-like thriller that never lets you stop questioning just what's going on. With a YA-centric premise, thriller fans are going to enjoy figuring out why Livvy has been kidnapped and how she'll get out.

I, personally, loved that Livvy is a young adult author, with the interesting addition that she's just barely out of high school, having reached meteoric success. But Livvy is far from likable. In the beginning, she's at times smug and acts as if she's entitled to the success she's enjoyed. It's off-putting, but she's got a big experience ahead of her. There's more to Livvy than meets the eye, and her background is more interesting than you'd expect. And her time in the basement uncovers a lot while also changing even more.

While I thought several of the twists were easy to anticipate, I still enjoyed reading how Livvy's experience worked out--how she'd deal with the time in the basement, whether she'd escape or be saved, the details as to why she was kidnapped, and the aftermath of the experience. Even without too much surprise, it's interesting to see.

The Detour is more psychological than action-packed, but it's fascinating and quite the quick read. The second half flies by as you find more questions and keep hoping your suppositions are correct.
