About the Author
Sanae Suzuki’s passion for learning about alternative, holistic medicine and plant-based macrobiotic nutrition began when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1993. This illness challenged her to think about the relationship between her lifestyle, attitude and food choices to her physical, emotional and spiritual state. She considered the impact of one on the other and she recovered from this serious cancer. As she began to learn more about natural, plant-based nutrition for herself, She recognized that the same benefits could be achieved for her pets. She began cooking for her dogs and saw rapid, significant improvements with their health issues. Sanae overcame her cancer and has been making Healthy Happy Pooch (HHP) homemade food for her dogs for more than 20 years. In this book she shares her recipes, information and passion with countless fellow dog owners, helping with various illnesses including diabetes, thyroid issues, skin allergies, arthritis, cancer and excess weight. Sanae is dedicated to nurturing dogs to be healthier and helping them live longer, more vibrant lives. In 2001, Sanae faced another life challenge: While traveling with some of her pets through the Arizona desert, Sanae had a freak car accident that claimed the lives of two of her dogs and almost her own as well. She was bedridden for a year and in a wheelchair for three; but she believed that by embracing holistic medicine and the philosophy of macrobiotics, she would recover, walk and thrive again. And so she has. Since then, Sanae has taught vegan, macrobiotic cooking throughout the US, Europe, Japan and the Caribbean. In 2007, she published her first cookbook-Love, Eric and Sanae-with her husband, chef Eric Lechasseur. In 2008, she and Eric opened Seed Kitchen, an organic, vegan, macrobiotic restaurant in Venice, California. In 2009, she published her second cookbook, Love, Sanae, which features over 120 healing recipes. And against all odds, Sanae hiked 11 miles through Tahoe National Forest in 2012, using just a cane for support. Sanae resides in Santa Monica and North Fork, California with her husband, Eric Lechasseur, six healthy, happy pooches-Kula, Oro, Leo, Bubu, Lumi and Happy-and two alley cats, Tintin and Maimai.

Great guide

While waiting for a puppy to come to my home I was wandering around in pet shops. Reading the labels on dog food didn't make me happy. Since I'm eating as healthy as possible (organic whole grains, beans, vegetables) I also wanted to feed my dog in a healthy way. So the Healthy Happy Pooch book from Sanae Suzuki is a great guide. The book gives a nice overview how to feed your dog healthy meals from puppy over adult to senior dog. Sanae shares a lot of experience. Not only concerning food but also about problems that may occur and some remedies like massage, Bach flowers... . I find the meridian points charts for dogs very helpful. It is an extra way to help your dog by massage or acupressure. So this book is very interesting for everybody that likes to raise a healthy happy Pooch. (review by Jorinde Peeters, a friend I bought the book for as a gift)

A Must-Have Guide-Book/Cookbook for Every Dog Owner

This is possibly the best dog cookbook and healthcare guide I've ever run across. Suzuki offers detailed advice on everything the quality of water you pour into your dog's water dish to the best vegetables and grains to include in their diet. She doesn't minimize the amount of work involved in cooking from scratch for your four-legged friends, but the benefits are well documented. This book will help you better understand just what makes your dog tick and how changing the way you care for and feed your dog can make all the difference to his longevity.

Pretty pictures, but not good for trip planning

When we got this book last Spring, my wife & I already had a trip planned to Mexico. We were going to spend a few days on Isla Holbox (she wanted to swim with the whalesharks) but we had no plans for the second half of our week. Along comes this book with a description of a lovely dive resort on the Yucatan, so we booked it. It was a very nice place, but the dive shop had changed hands and was completely different from what the book describes; we were greatly disappointed. In fact, we ended up renting a car and driving to another dive shop and did our diving there.

Bottom line, there are some beautiful pictures, and the book might offer some ideas on places to explore, but be aware that it is impossible for the author to keep all of the details current.

About the Author
Gene Deszca is Professor of Business Administration, a former MBA Director, and is currently the Associate MBA Director in the School of Business and Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University. He has held a number of leadership roles at Laurier, including ones involving the development and launch of the full-time, one year MBA program, the executive MBA program, and the international concentration. He was instrumental in the development of the Society of Management Accountants of Canada's post-university professional accreditation programs and is a member of their national Board of Directors. Gene is the author or coauthor over 100 journal, conference publications/presentations, books, monographs, and technical papers. These include the books Canadian Cases in Human Resource Management, and Cases in Organizational Behaviour and the articles Driving Loyalty Through Time-to-Value, and Managing the New Product Development Process: Best-in-Class Principles and Leading Practices. His current research and consulting activity focuses on organizational change and the development of high performance enterprises. Cynthia Ingols is an Associate Professor, School of Management (SOM), Simmons College, Boston. At the SOM, she directs the internship program for undergraduate and MBA students, and teaches courses in Organizational Change and Career Strategies to MBA students. Ingols leads Strategic Leadership for Women, an executive education program with a global reach that strengths the leadership skills and self-confidence of its participants. Early in her career, she received her doctorate from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in Organization Behavior and taught Management Communication at the Harvard Business School. Cynthia focuses her consulting work in three areas: conducting diagnostic work to promote change in organizations; developing interactive executive education programs, particularly using cases and simulations; and, coaching executives to enhance their leadership capacity and careers. Easy to follow and very applicable to real world challenges

As a CFO working in a crown corporation with a broad customer base, over 1,000 employees and annual revenues of over $1 billion, I have found this book to be a very helpful resource to support the change management efforts within our workplace.

Clearly well researched, it is a good read that has many timely examples of challenges faced in todays business environment. Its clear structure and layout do indeed make it a valuable tool in the toolkit as once you have read through it, it is easy to refer back to the chapters in the book that speak to the particular stage that you are at in any change management situation.

I highly recommend this book as a valuable resource to any organization facing significant organization change.

technological .Dealing with change is a core management skill in today's
environment . have found this book to be a very pragmatic and highly
readable resource to support real world change management .
It contains typical illustrations of the challenges faced by today's
leaders. I especially liked the toolkit exercises and case studies.

Lifelong fan of the the One pot!

I have to admit that I am a little obsessed with all the various one pot styles of cooking. Starting probably way (way!) back in college, when I literally had only one pot to cook in, I made an infinite varieties of what came to be known as "stoop" (ie not quite stew, not quite soup). Now, thankfully, while I can afford more than one pot to cook in, I still am partial to only using one for a meal. Maybe it is the comfort of all that goodness cooking together, or maybe I am just too lazy to do a lot of cleaning up after dinner. Either way, needless to say, I have a lot of practice in this cooking method.

I will start off by saying that One Pot: 120+ Easy Meals is a worthwhile addition to my somewhat overburdened and sagging cookbook shelf. While my all time favorite I think will continue to be my handful of tagine recipes given to me decades ago by a family friend, or the timeless and always wonderful The Clay Pot Cookbook, One Pot gives some really nice approaches in a variety of styles that are accessible to almost any level of expertise in the kitchen.

Since being given One Pot, I have worked my way through several dozen of the recipes (did I mention I really like one pot recipes? lol). Most were just about dead-on as recipes go. The Kale and Tuscan Bean Soup was a particular favorite for my husband, who is not usually one for either anything Tuscan nor bean- (he has had an anti-Tuscan bias since I made him watch The English Patient, and the bean problem, well, you know..) The Mac and cheese varieties (yes, tried all of them!), were of course universally loved by my grandson and his friends, and the adults did not exactly shy away from it either. I was a little less crazy about the Beef Stroganoff, but it was a reasonable foundation that I felt just required some doctoring from the spice cabinet.

Your taste of course will vary from mine in assessing individual recipes, but as always you will need to adjust spices and flavors to suit your own preferences.

All in all, One Pot is a very good introduction to the art of one pot cooking (and thus one-pot clean up!). If you have not worked with a pressure cooker before, here is a nice opportunity to try one out (buy a newer model, they are so much more safe than the old ones we used to use!). Likewise having a good roasting pan will make your efforts so much more pleasant for entertaining or just filling your house with wonderful aromas and good healthy foods.

I have probably rambled long enough about this now. I have a new Korean stone bowl that just arrived, and I have a date with some hot pot recipes!

A cookbook you'll use day after day!

Let me begin this review by saying that I have four recipes from One Pot: Salmon with Kale and Cabbage, Baked Rice with Sausage and Broccoli Rabe, Pork Chops with Cabbage and Bacon, and Sausage with Acorn Squash and Onions. They have all been very good, the pork chop recipe was incredible.

One Pot is divided into 7 sections: Dutch Oven, Skillet and Saute Pan, Slow Cooker, Roasting Pan and Baking Dish, Pressure Cooker, Stockpot and Saucepan, and Desserts. I like this method of organization because I frequently choose or look for recipes based on the technique or equipment that I am wanting to use. Each section opens with a small introduction to the equipment used. For example in the Dutch Oven Section, it goes into materials used in their construction and ideal size.

I have marked practically the entire book to try, but here a three from each section to give an idea of the scope of the recipes (plus they are all recipes that sound good to me!)

Dutch Oven: Chicken and Dumplings, Carnitas Tacos, and Pork Stew with Potatoes and Rosemary.

Skillet and Saute Pan: Shrimp with Tomatoes and Orzo, Mushroom Cheddar Frittata, and Skillet Macaroni with Bacon and Gouda.

Slow Cooker: Garlic Chicken with Barley, Pot Roast with Sweet Potato and Prunes, and Spiced Chicken Stew with Carrots.

Roasting Pan and Baking Dish: Spatchcocked Chicken with Herbs and Lemon, Spiced Cod with Couscous, and Mexican Style Lasagna.

Pressure cooker: Beef Barley and Vegetable Stew, Risotto with Mushrooms and Thyme, and Irish Beef Stew with Stout.

Stockpot and Saucepan: Warm Quinoa and Chicken Salad, Sweet Potato and Sausage Soup, and Pasta with Farm-Stand Vegetables.

Desserts: Rustic Apple Tart, No-Churn Coffee Chocolate-Chip Ice Cream, and Fruit Skillet Cake.

This is a cookbook that anyone can use day after day. These are simple, easy meals. Easy enough for weeknights, but filled with enough flavor for the weekends! I have over 200 cookbooks and this will definitely be at the top as one of my most used.

Everything One Pot

This book was so much more than I expected. As the mother of 3 young children, I'm always looking for ways to simplify dinner time, because it's the most hectic time of day. I thought this cookbook would be perfect, as I love stovetop meals that only take one pot, making clean up SO much faster and easier. What I wasn't expecting was a whole variety of recipes - not just stovetop meals. The book includes slow cooker meals, pressure cooker meals, Dutch oven, roasting, etc. It really is a great guide to all things one pot!

The photos are beautiful, in true Martha Stewart fashion. And there is a photo of every recipe, which is always a plus for a cookbook. If I could choose one criticism, it would only be that some of the recipes are too sophisticated for some people in my family. But I made the Skillet Turkey Pie and we all loved it. I think this book will be a welcome addition to my library.

About the Author
Julian Stockwin was sent at the age of fourteen to Indefatigable, a tough sea-training school. He joined the Royal Navy at fifteen before transferring to the Royal Australian Navy, where he served for eight years in the Far East, Antarctic waters and the South Seas. In Vietnam he saw active service in a carrier task force. After leaving the Navy (rated Petty Officer), Julian practised as an educational psychologist. He lived for some time in Hong Kong, where he was commissioned into the Royal Naval Reserve. He was awarded the MBE and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Julian Stockwell has improved with every volume. His books began as a poor man's version of Patrick O"Brian . However since Number10 he has really come alive . His problem is that the relationship between Renzi and Kydd isn't as interesting or developed as O"Brians principals .Its getting better but the development is slow .

You don't have to be a dummy to 'get it'

Great book. A bit more approachable for those who like to flip through stop, and learn something vs taking a classroom adventure, perhaps than his other awesome book on succeeding in the music biz. Different animal, but also some different thoughts and there is no bad advice here. If you can only afford one music business book, this is the one, even if you're not a dummy!
